Families and Communities Rising is bringing back books!

Today’s world emphasizes technologies and screens in ways that can be detrimental to childhood development. Technology can negatively affect children’s developing social skills, relationships, health, and overall ability to focus.

Books create warm emotional bonds between adults and kids when they read books together. Books also help kids develop basic language skills and profoundly expand their vocabularies. Additionally, books develop critical thinking skills and nourish kids’ imaginations.

FCR’s Book Bundle Fundraiser will provide Lending Libraries at FCR’s Head Start and Early Head Start (children 0-5) sites and site-based Storytime Libraries.

The purpose of the Lending Library is to allow children to select books to go home with them and be read with their parent or caregiver. If loved, it can stay home or be returned for another book. The Storytime Libraries are designed to provide teachers and therapists a plethora of books to engage in group or one-on-one reading activities.

The best news? We’re already halfway to our goal, thanks to a generous donor who donated $5,000 to kickstart our campaign! This $5,000 will be used to purchase and set up our FIRST THREE Lending Libraries and Storytime Libraries at three of our seven locations.
